The ageless drifter watches patiently; face revealing nothing. One can not fold the fabrics of time without consequence. This he has known. As his mechanical child opens her first door, the history of all worlds begins to shift. Already the course of time has chosen another path.

On one screen this faceless man watches as Wanda, the alien Wanderer, is placed into another human host instead of being sent away as planned. This, he thinks, will make Cameron's mission slightly easier. Wanderer is to play an important part in the survival of creations savior and having her remain on Earth instead of flying endlessly through outer space would most certainly help with the pain staking process of collecting.

On another screen, a warrior of the people, the vampire with a soul, dies. In his place is the face of pure evil. A walking, talking reminder of what came before and what might be again should Cameron's mission fail. Time in this world moves faster then the others. A symptom of an already failing universe. Without Eve this symptom will go unnoticed, incurable. The vampires friends will have already accepted his fate and moved on with life before Cameron reaches her second door. Of this the Drifter is certain.

Yet another screen, just above the last and slightly to the left, shows a Slayer in her final moments. This world does not yet feel the effect of creations slow decline but it soon will. Another Slayer is not called, as the prophecy foretells, for one already exists. She too will be collected from another time, another place, and is not the focus of the Drifters interest now. The ripple is his only concern, and none of it's effects is enough break his anxious heart just yet. There is still hope.

Other lives on other screens continue to run silently without change. But, there are other doors Cameron must enter and even more she must exit. Their time will come and not a one of them will be the wiser.

The Drifter turns slowly and touches the glass of a blackened screen with the tips of his ancient fingers. Somewhere inside, collecting in the dark, is the reason for all of the this. Somewhere behind this cold and lifeless screen is a disease that will be spreading through the worlds just as quickly as Cameron enters and exits them. What the Drifter wouldn't give to be allowed....but alas, he is not and the darkness will go on with or without him. He has done his part for the good of all creation. For now, all he is left to do is watch.
